I can't really complain about my 4-day Thanksgiving weekend... I spent the time with family and friends at the country house, we played tennis, walked on the beach, ate some BBQ and generally enjoyed ourselves. What is tough for me is missing my club's annual trip to Mosport for the ASE Lapping Club annual track day there. For various reasons, I almost never make it that event anymore. I've only been twice in the last 10 years (2011 and 2016). I know that I should not really complain, because the deal I made with the family was to miss the rest of the 2021 season after ruining my engine early in the summer so I could have the K-swap done.
How is the K-swap going? Choo is doing a great job getting everything ready, but I haven't yet supplied him with all the parts (he does have most of them at least). Despite some supply issues, most parts are arriving on time. Still, there is a gaping hole where the engine should be. I hope that somehow the car will be up and running before winter, although I don't know if that is realistic. The K-swap is a really big job... I bet it's not much harder to swap a K20 into a Miata or a Lotus, given the number of parts involved.
Otherwise, there are still many cool cars on the road. The M3 is performing flawlessly and is still a joy to drive. Apart from a flat tire, the Saabaru has also been reliable and I will soon have to decide if we are keeping it for one more winter or replacing it with a newer used car.
