Cool cars you see at the track

While we're still waiting for the 2017 track season to begin, here are a few paddock photos from 2016 showing some of the coolest cars I spotted at the track last season. Enjoy!

Crazy tube-framed Corvette at Mosport
Another crazy V8 at Mosport: wide-bodies Triumph TR8
Amazing Viper ACR at St-Eustache
The first time I spotted a new Focus RS was at St-Eustache
A Cayman GT4 (and a certain Civic!)
Two NSX's at the Club Civic Quebec day at St-Eustache
A lovely E30 M3 at the BMW Club HPDE at Tremblant in May
Nice 964 at Tremblant
My favourite colour for the E92 M3
Tastefully modified 993 at Tremblant
... and a tastefully modified early Lancer Evolution
Factory Five Cobra Daytona built for the track
Lotus Exige with a serious wing
The sweet-sounding Shelby GT350 (I believe this is the one I got to drive)
996 GT3 at Calabogie
Even stock, the GTR looks mean
Unexpected track car: Chrysler 300
Charger Hellcat
This is the 991 GT3 I actually got to drive on track
Another cool early Evo spotted at the track
Very clean 2nd generation Toyota MR2 Turbo owned by my friend Stéphane
A Ford GT at St-Eustache
Serious-looking C-7 Corvette

I can't believe it's been almost a month since my last post...

... but that's what happens when you have less free time on your hands. Everyone in the family has been sick at least once in the past couple of weeks, which has reduced everyone's quality of life a little.

I brought the boys to the car show a couple of weeks ago. I made the mistake of going on a Saturday afternoon, and it was incredibly crowded. I only snapped a couple of pictures, mainly of the boys, who enjoyed sitting in cars (and other vehicles). By the end, Oscar seemed to prefer back seats for some reason.

Jules enjoys a large Mini
Honda four-wheeler
Loud green for the new Civic
Other than that, not much is going on car-wise. The Civic is still at Marc's. He's installed the transmission, and I am waiting to here about his progress replacing the motor mount inserts and installing the new exhaust. I can't wait for spring so I can start driving the Civic again!

Other than that, it's winter... we spend a lot of time doing indoor activities! It hasn't been terribly cold, but I'm looking forward to spring.

Jules is pretty handy with water colour paint
There are not many cool cars out there, but there are a couple of decent SUV's...

Pretty similar in overall shape
This could almost a photo from another era

Change of seasons, Oscar turns two, we have a niece!

I am so behind on blog posts that many of these photos were taken while there was still no snow on the ground. Anyway, before the holidays, we had Oscar's second birthday, and celebrated the birth of my sister's baby, Lily.

Oscar in the woods above Mont Royal street
Oscar in snow gear in our driveway
Jules and I found a way to pick up a Christmas tree without making a mess in the car
Oscar's Curious George birthday cake
Jules and Oscar in the back seat. Oscar was not into the face paint...
Squeaky clean Jules
As for car stuff, not much has been going on. The Civic is still at Marc's. What was supposed to be a relatively easy transmission upgrade has taken longer than expected. The first transmission I bought had a broken differential. I then paid more to get a pristine, newer transmission, which I received a few days ago. I also had to do some research to figure out what clutch I needed, as I have the flywheel from a 5-speed Civic and the transmission of a 6-speed. It turns out I needed the clutch for the 5-speed, which is not listed in the Exedy catalog for my car. It is listed for the base model Acura RSX, which has the same transmission and flywheel as my model. It also turned out I don't have a lightweight flywheel, as the seller of the Civic had indicated, but I don't really care about that. I was also told that one of my transmission mounts was finished, but it turns out that the mounts I have only need to have their inserts replaced, and these cost only 20$ per mount. Anyway, all of this should be assembled relatively soon, I hope.

On the streets, there are fewer cool cars than in summer, but there are still some unexpected cars (unexpected in winter, that is).

I still love the XK-RS
F-Type-R
Another great winter beater, the AMG GTS
First spot of the Maserati SUV... not bad looking
Nice colour-scheme on this Rolls

Car spotting in Montreal and Maine

(This post was drafted last month, but I only got around to posting it now!)

Alex and I were fortunate enough to be able to get away to Ogunquit, Maine for the weekend, thanks to my Mom, mother in law and sister watching the boys. It was a bit cold on the Saturday, but we really enjoyed ourselves and spent a lot of time outdoors. We visited Newburyport and Plum Island for the first time, and they were both lovely places. We came across this little British car dealer called "Brit Bits" and I could not help but stop for a few photos.

This E-Type was not in mint condition, but the price of only 40 000 $ reflected that.
They had a whole bunch of MGB's
I was surprised to come across a super rare Lotus Eclat
You can see from this pic that Jaguars used to be small...
There are still a bunch of interesting cars on the streets of Montreal as well...

Faded paint, but no rust at all on this Jetta from B.C.
Wraith
Another big Car: C63AMG
Parked near a very small Mini, British Racing Green edition
I had never seen a Skyline wagon before... this one was mint
I don't know if this was a "real" Brabus, but it was at least a nice SLK with cool wheels...
The 1M looks a bit cartoonish compared to an M2 or M3...
This neat Westfalia looked ready for anything
A pretty terrible car, but you have to respect the clean condition...
The 300ZX is low compare to modern cars... not the best colour here
Darth Vader's winter car
Again, not my thing, but you have to respect how clean it still is after 30 years
How to move your family quickly, and in style
Canadian military G-wagen...nice
The V10 M6 is still badass after all these years
First time I see one of these Bentley SUV's
A proper SUV
This is the rare version of the Bentley Continental
I have seen this 456 a few times. I think the design has aged very well.
Flat grey RS7 on a grey day
One of three neat cars in the same parking lot in Old Montreal. I like the hard top.

2 of 3: 944 Turbo
3 of 3: the same Ferrari 456
I strill really dig these older STi's
The same Cayman GT4 I have seen many times before... still being used as a street car
RHD Toyota Aristo
